EQ50 was founded in 2018. The first event was held at Five Miles in North London.

The initial idea for EQ50 was to hold workshops and provide a safe spaces for women and non-binary people to network and learn about the music industry.

As we progressed it was clear that all aspects if diversity needed to be addressed to ensure an industry that is inclusive and accessible for all.

The mentoring scheme came to light after over a year of planning. We launched in 2020 pairing up a mentee to work with one of the 5 major labels involved - Ram, Shogun, Critical, Function and V Records.

EQ50’s impact and effort is now visible in the scene, with events starting to balance out, smaller collectives popping up and labels holding their own mentorships.
